NEW YORK, NY (Creative London/ UK Trade and Investment) - The Rakes, Towers of London, Boy Kill Boy and Plan B will be leading the charge for the London music scene when they headline at the "Live from London" showcase event at New York City's Bowery Ballroom on March 21st. Brakes will kick off the day long event with an in-store showcase at Virgin Megastore, Union Sq. and will also headline the showcase aftershow party at The Annex.

"Live from London" is a unique, high profile networking event that will expose the creativity and buzz of the London music scene to another of the world's greatest music cities.

"Live from London" events will include:

- In-store showcase and the annual BEST OF BRITISH: The New British Invasion retail campaign at Virgin Megastore, Union Square. "Live from London" has teamed with the premier entertainment retailer, Virgin Megastores, who continue their commitment to bringing the best in British entertainment and music direct to the US Marketplace to host three live in- store concerts, including the Brakes on March 21 at 2:00 PM; the Brakes debut album, "Give Blood," was voted the best of 2005 by Rough Trade shops.

- Reception and invite-only London music industry master class hosted by Sirius Satellite Radio featuring former Rolling Stones manager, Andrew Loog Oldham, radio host and Sirius Satellite Radio producer, "Little Steven" Van Zandt, and Alan McGee, founder of the legendary London club The Living Room, Creation Records (Oasis, Primal Scream), and Poptones Records. This is the first meeting between Loog Oldham and McGee.

- Showcase at the Bowery Ballroom featuring The Rakes, Towers of London, Boy Kill Boy, and Plan B.

- Aftershow party at The Annex hosted by London club, White Heat, Tarts of Pleasure and music website, Drowned in Sound. In addition to Brakes the Young Knives, signed to Transgressive Records have confirmed their attendance.

Creative London, part of the London Development Agency, along with UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) is seizing on a prime opportunity to extend the reach and visibility of London's music industry whilst industry insiders and performers are already in the United States for the SxSW (South by South West) convention and new music festival. Other event partners include AIM, BPI, MMF, PPL, MTV2, Sirius Satellite Radio, Time Out New York and NME.

MTV2 will film "Live from London" for a documentary entitled 'MTV2 Spanking New Music week: London on tour.' The half hour documentary will feature the performances alongside interviews from the four showcase bands and will be broadcast alongside coverage of SxSW in 'Spanking New Music Week' on MTV2 in May.
