Los Angeles, CA (Capitol Records) - One of America's model touring bands, Grand Funk Railroad, has teamed with Capitol/EMI Music Catalog Marketing for the April 4 release of Grand Funk Railroad: Greatest Hits. A genre-bending blend of funk, boogie, heavy rock and electrifying live shows led to Grand Funk Railroad's emergence as one of America's most iconic rock bands of the 1970s. Greatest Hits boasts 14 digitally remastered tracks, including nine Top 40 hits, among them two No 1 singles: 'We're an American Band' and 'The Loco-Motion,' and the Top 5 hits 'Some Kind Of Wonderful' and 'Bad Time.'

Following the release of the new Greatest Hits CD, Grand Funk Railroad will perform select dates in the U.S. this summer, with a line-up featuring original members Brewer and Schacher, and adding Bruce Kulick (lead guitar), Max Carl (vocals) and Tim Cashion (keyboards). Fans hoping to catch the locomotive can get more information at the band's official website: www.grandfunkrailroad.com.

In 1968, Don Brewer (drums/vocals), Mark Farner (guitar), and Mel Schacher (bass) first performed as Grand Funk Railroad in their hometown of Flint, Michigan. Their blend of rock and boogie and an aggressive touring schedule made them a top choice for concertgoers across the country. In 1971, Grand Funk Railroad broke a Beatles-held ticket sales record by selling out Shea Stadium in just 72 hours.

Produced by Todd Rundgren, Grand Funk Railroad's 1973 album, We're An American Band, rose to No 2 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart and was certified Platinum with more than one million units sold. The album's definitive title track became the band's first No 1 Pop hit.
