BURBANK, CA (By Penny Palmer/ Warner Bros. Records) - "Ghetto Classics," the current album from streetwise soul singer Jaheim, was certified gold last week by the RIAA since its release just five weeks ago on February 14th by Divine Mill/Warner Bros. Records. Anchored by the album's first single "Everytime I Think About Her," which features rapper Jadakiss, "Ghetto Classics" debuted at Number One on Billboard's Top 200 chart, selling 152,900 copies its first week out. It is the New Jersey native's third Top Ten CD. Both of Jaheim's previous albums, 2001's "Ghetto Love" and 2002's "Still Ghetto" have been certified platinum. Injecting hip-hop flavor into his old-school brand of loverman soul, Jaheim co-produced several tracks on "Ghetto Classics" with Divine Mill Records' label head KayGee. Other tracks were produced by hip-hop hitmakers Scott Storch and Bink (Beanie Siegel, Lil' Mo, Nas). Critics and fans alike have responded to Jaheim's heartfelt, romantic lyrics and vintage R&B voice, which has drawn comparisons to legends Teddy Pendergrass and Luther Vandross.
