Cincinnati, OH (Allison Tartalia Official Website) – When two indie singer-songwriters from the Big Apple and the
Queen City join artistic and navigational forces for a 14-city tour, you can bet you're in store for a wild ride! Appropriately titled East Meets Midwest, the tour will take
Allison Tartalia of New York City and Rhonda Everitt of the Cincinnati band pale beneath the blue across 9 states in three weeks. Their trek kicks off April 7-8 at the 6th annual
Chicks Rock Fest, at Southgate House, in Newport, KY and concludes in Washington, DC on April 29. They will play NY on April 24 at the Bitter End, along with the band Fluttr, from Boston, MA.
The two quirky, multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriters first met at last year's Chicks Rock Fest and had an immediate affinity for one another's music. Meeting again at the 2005 Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati, they began cooking up a plan to go on the road together. Everitt and Tartalia will spend most of April touring, with dates in KY, OH, IN, IL, WI, PA, NY MA and DC. (Full tour schedule below).
The two share common creative roots in the works of songwriters like Laura Nyro, Tori Amos, and Kate Bush, but that's where the similarities end. Tartalia performs soulful, jazz-influenced songs with complex piano arrangements, while Everitt's more light-hearted tunes tend to find the humor in even the darkest of situations.
The East Meets Midwest tour will see both artists previewing material from their upcoming releases. Pale beneath the blue's new full-length release, She Dangled it in Front of Him Just Like a Cat Toy, is a 12-track disc that takes a more organic approach than the electronic-infused Hologram (2004). A limited edition EP showcasing some acoustic tracks as well as some tracks off She Dangled It...will be available at shows. Tartalia is currently working on a follow up to her widely acclaimed debut CD, Ready. She'll be performing songs from her sophomore release, tentatively titled Rage/Rapture, and will have a live EP of new material exclusively for the tour in addition to her full-length disc, Ready.
