NASHVILLE, TN. (Phil Vassar official websit) - Several thousands of people, some who arrived at eight in the morning, lined up just outside of Philadelphia at Michael's Café on Thursday, May 4th to attend Phil Vassar's Album Release Party. By midday, the crowds wound around the blocks and caught the attention of the fire marshal who helped to keep the mass of people from spilling onto the streets and congesting traffic. Originally scheduled as one acoustic show, a second show was added and quickly sold out as well. 'It's a great feeling to come here time and time again and to have the support of my fans and country radio,' says Vassar. 'I love my fans for coming out, flooding the streets and being so devoted.' Vassar's latest Arista Nashville album, 'Phil Vassar's Greatest Hits Volume 1,' hit stores this Tuesday, May 2 and features his newly written and recorded top 10 single, 'Last Day of My Life,' which is the fastest rising single on the charts in his career. At end of release week, iTunes ranked sales at No 2 on Country Albums chart and No 16 on the overall Top Albums chart, and the single broke onto Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart, an all genre chart, at No 94. Country Weekly gave the new release a four out of four star review calling the collection a 'text book example of how to do a greatest hits album just right' with the results '[defining] the artist in question.' Phil started his week out with the debut of his one-hour special, 'Piano Man in a Guitar Town,' on GAC. On the day of release, Phil performed his current hit single on the season finale of USA Networks' Nashville Star, which he has served as a judge for the last two season. On Wednesday he returned to the Historic Lowell Auditorium in Boston for a sell-out performance, making it the fourth consecutive sold out show for Phil at the venue. After Philadelphia, Phil heads out to Washington DC for another release party acoustic performance at the Rosecroft Raceway and ends the week in Lynchburg, VA, the town he grew up in, for an in-store appearance at Walmart.
