NEW YORK (Purpose Records) - The 25 Strong Soundtrack, featuring some of the hottest talents in soul music, encapsulates the essence and beauty of one of New York's most powerful basketball film documentaries.

Purpose Records, one of the leading labels in the independent soul movement scene, breaks new and innovative ground with the release of the 25 Strong Soundtrack. The 14-song CD, with music compiled by label heads Russell Johnson and George Littlejohn, in association with Edclectic Entertainment, features some of the most talented soul artists in today's market. The CD is on the cutting edge in that it's a basketball soundtrack that's entirely comprised of soul artists, making it the only kind of its genre. The soundtrack to the film documentary of the same name, 25 Strong showcases basketball from a different yet deeper perspective through soul music.

25 Strong has a talented and eclectic roster of artists in the soul music scene, with a versatile mix of sounds, from the Nu-funk of Cooly's Hot Box, to the pure soul of Angela Johnson, to the hip-hop/soul of Maya Azucena, to the jazzy soul of Tortured Soul. The soundtrack continues with an impressive list of artists such as soul underground divas Julie Dexter, Conya Doss and Monet, singing and songwriting newcomer Darien, and the versatile sounds of Asaph Womack, Jigmastas, Free Radicalz, Antibalas, Patrice Roberts, Peven Everett, and Robin Small are also featured.

"It's been a long time since I've heard such beautiful and powerful voices gathered together in one compilation." - XM Radio
"The 25 Strong is by far the best indie soundtrack to date...if you don't have it, you need it. It's a must-have in the collection." - Onthe-verge.com

"A basketball soundtrack, but one that features a great array of cuts from the American soul underground." - Dustygroove
So be sure to pick up a copy of 25 Strong, one of the hottest, most innovative movie soundtracks of this music era. The CD is available in stores nationwide, and also online at: www.cdbaby.com, www.dustygroove.com, www.towerrecords.com, and www.amazon.com.
