NEW YORK, NY (Virgin Records) - Virgin Records' rock band 30 SECONDS TO MARS has just released their exclusive "Two Beautiful Lies" EP through iTunes. Two weeks ago the band asked their fans to submit photos for a set of digital liner notes to accompany their new single for "
The Kill" and the response was tremendous. In just 24 hours, over 1,000 fans submitted their digital photos. The photos have been transformed into a 36-page photo book that is now bundled with the EP, which includes "
The Kill" and a previously unreleased live recording of "Attack" at iTunes for $1.49.
The video for "The Kill," loosely inspired by themes of isolation and insanity present in the Kubrickian nightmare "The Shining," was ranked No 1 in the Hot 5 Videos on MTV.com for the past two weeks while, during the week of May 1, it was No 1 on Fuse's Oven Fresh. The video comes midway through their first national headlining tour, where 30 SECONDS TO MARS is leaving a trail of sold-out shows, with dates added constantly and venues often upgraded to accommodate over-capacity ticket demand. The band just performed at this year's Bamboozle Festival and will be playing select Warped Tour along with Lollapalooza this August during the expanding course of the band's "Forever Night Never Day" tour.
The tour has been a creative crucible for the band, and an intense bonding experience with their existing and growing legion of fans. "The incredible success of the tour and the enthusiastic response to the new CD ['A Beautiful Lie'] has been nothing short of phenomenal. We look forward to continuing this amazing journey," says front man Jared Leto.
While taking over stages across the country, television and cable visibility will also be on the rise in the coming weeks: On June 7, 30 Seconds To Mars will play an acoustic set on FUSE's Daily Download, and on MTV 2 they will be on the T-Minus Rock show airing the week on June 12. Look for upcoming appearances / performances on Extra, FUSE's Steven's Untitled Rock show, and on VH1.COM. The band will also be on the nationally syndicated radio show, Rockline June 5.
