(immortalrecords.net) - Living up to their name as one of the "100 Bands To Watch" for 2006 by Alternative Press Magazine and "Ones To Watch" by the LA Times, Agent Sparks is set to release their first full length album, Red Rover. The album was produced by
Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger and is the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed 2005 EP/DVD, Not So Merry. Agent Sparks is teaming up with
30 Seconds To Mars for tour dates that will carry them through July 17TH and they will meet up with
Blue October for a few dates in August. The group has also been signed on to play a show during Milwaukee's Summerfest.
Red Rover producer Mike Einzigers connection to Agent Sparks goes much further than his title. He is the older brother of lead singer/ guitarist Ben and bass player Paul and only signed on to be involved with the project once he heard the music. Upon finalizing production, Mike wasn't ready to stop the creative process, "I was really impressed with their songs and their natural feel, so much that it instantly made me want to get back into the studio and craft a new [Incubus] album."
Despite the connection, the tracks on Red Rover are much different than any Incubus release as well as Ben and Paul's former band on Atlantic Records, Audiovent. Vocal duties are shared by Ben Einziger and keyboardist Stephanie Eitel (known for her performance with Weezer on their track "Beverly Hills") and musically they have been compared to the likes of The Pixies, Violent Femmes, X and many more. The first single and video will be released in late July for the track, "Polly Anne" although it is already being supported by stations across the country.
