LOS ANGELES (Razor & Tie Recordings) - Razor & Tie recording artist Kelly Sweet has been chosen to open for legendary artist Paul Simon on selected dates for his U.S. tour. The July 7th and July 8th shows in Essex Junction, Vermont and Manchester, New Hampshire, respectively have already been confirmed. In other news, Kelly will have her music featured in three film and television projects prior to the release of her debut album, WE ARE ONE, later this year. First up is the inclusion of her song "I Will Be Waiting" (a track from her new CD) on the just-released soundtrack for the Lions Gate film "Peaceful Warrior". Starring Nick Nolte, the film is based on author Dan Millman's best-selling autobiographical novel. Another song from Kelly's new CD, the title track "We Are One," will be featured on upcoming television episodes of both "All My Children" and "Passions". Kelly has garnered significant industry attention over the past few months, performing to standing-room only showcase crowds in New York and Los Angeles as well as the American Society of Young Musicians Benefit (whose board members include Madonna, James Taylor, Christina Aguilera and numerous entertainment-industry heavy-hitters) at the House of Blues in Los Angeles on June 13th. Kelly conveys a sense of depth, intimacy and sophistication not often heard in today's pop landscape. Like such stylistically diverse artists as Norah Jones, Josh Groban and Dido, Sweet is that rare singer that combines unassailable credibility and talent with an uncanny ability to connect with a wide audience of music fans. Kelly's debut WE ARE ONE was produced and co-written by Grammy-nominated producer Mark Portmann (Josh Groban, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera). The album finds Sweet's inimitable, otherworldly voice placed against the backdrop of intimate yet powerful arrangements.
