SANTA MONICA, Calif. (By Dennis Dennehy/ Interscope/Geffen/A&M) - Dashboard Confessional's Chris Carrabba knows how tough a summer can be for everybody in school - summer jobs, summer reading, and deciding which summer albums to buy - the last part being even tougher when you're on a "student budget."

"The majority of my audience are kids in school," notes Carrabba. "Students at every level ... from grade school to grad school. Summertime is really when a lot of them get to work and make some money. And there are a million ways to spend it then too. I wanted to make it easier for Dashboard fans to buy the new record. When I started buying music with my own money, they were priced so I could afford quite a few albums over the course of those three months ... I'd been trying to come up with ways to give kids the same break."

Teaming up with retail chain Best Buy, Dashboard Confessional has launched a nationwide campaign to make their new release, "Dusk and Summer," available for the low, low price of $6.99. No, that's not a "9" that's been typed incorrectly, it is indeed a "6." Over the next four weeks, any student presenting a valid Student ID from any school, from grammar school to graduate school, will be able to purchase the album at this price. This special student promotion is only in effect at Best Buy stores and is not available online.

For Carrabba, it's also a bit of a harkening back to the hardcore and punk rock roots from which he came: "All the albums I grew up listening to always had labels on them saying 'Pay No More Than ...' and it was always a pretty reasonable price. Doing this with a chain like Best Buy gives me a bit of a subversive thrill in that way too. We're bringing a punk rock ethos back to the students, in a way."

"Dusk and Summer" is in stores now. The first single, "Don't Wait," is already at No 19 on the Modern Rock Charts and the band begins its U.S. tour on July 10.
