Greensboro, NC (SV2 Studios) - SV2 Studios, the production company of local indie filmmaker Stephen van Vuuren, and Greensboro-based punk-influenced rock band Dreamkiller teamed together to produce an eye-catching, dynamic music video for the song "Self-Evident." Dreamkiller was the winner of the SV2 Studios contest to make a free music video for a local band. Over 50 songs were submitted and after narrowing it to three finalists, 'Self Evident' was the winning song. 'It was not an easy job considering the amount of indie music talent in the Triad,' says Stephen van Vuuren. The video was shot in June over two full days at Somewhere Else Tavern in Greensboro with avid support of owner Burley Hayes. The demanding shoot required 40 special effects shots, over 50 extras, numerous costume changes as well as an expert cast and crew culled from the Triad's indie film community. Area businesses including Makeup by Kathy, J & S Cafeteria, Real Catering, Cakes by Carlee and Jam's Deli stepped forward with valuable donations in support of the production. Christy Johnson and Donnie Neas, the songwriting force behind Dreamkiller, were active creative partners in the process. Immersed in the arts since the age of six months, Christy is no stranger to the camera. 'The whole experience of making this video has been amazing! Everyone put in a lot of hard work, from planning it out to the actual filming, so I know the product is going to look incredible.' Donnie, who has been in bands since the age of 11, enjoyed stepping into acting. 'I've always known that the best way to learn something is just to do it. This was my first time in front of the camera and I've caught the bug. It was a pleasure working on the video and I can't wait to make more.' The video, based on a true story, also features local actor Tim Matson as a sleazy talent agent. Stephen van Vuuren wanted to showcase SV2 Studios' ability to create big-budget production value with small-budget means by using his creativity as an artist and his ability to draw on the resources of the local community. 'Using both the latest digital technology and old-fashioned indie filmmaking ingenuity, our amazing homegrown cast & crew has been able to pull a music video with great look and cool visual effects.' The video will premiere with an exciting large screen projection presentation on July 13th at 8:00 pm at Somewhere Else Tavern in Greensboro with a free live performance from Dreamkiller.
