LOS ANGELES (www.themajestictwelve.com) - Critically applauded indie rockers The Majestic Twelve announced the official release of their second record, Schizophrenology, through their label Pandora's Legacy. While they have physical copies for sale, they have also put the disc on their website www.themajestictwelve.com allowing anyone to download it for free. "We're truly excited to be giving our album away," says lead singer Kenyata Sullivan. "For well over a century, a handful of organizations have controlled the music industry by controlling the physical distribution of product. We genuinely believe that we can build a brand new economic model that's not based on record sales." While many songs on Schizophrenology are political, the band does not consider themselves an inherently political group. Tracks like Condoleezza Check My Posse and Thank God Everything On TV Is Lie are unabashedly opinionated, but a deeper listen reveals a collection of genre bending songs about such topics as resilience through tragedy (Break It and Breathe), the heartbreak of lost love (Cry), and much more. The Majestic Twelve formed in 2002. They sold 5,000 copies of their debut album, Searching for the Elvis Knob, on word of mouth alone. Their video for "I Don't Have a Job" appeared last year on MTV's Overdrive and "The Wedge" on Much Music. Schizophrenology is co-produced by Sullivan and Jerry Kee (Superchunk, Polvo, Ryan Adams).
