America is ready to accept the musical ascendancy of Asian/American Pop Star Adrienne Lau, who has become a phenomenon on My Space with over one million fans. The verdict is a resounding yes.
It's historic, it's undeniable and epic making. Hong Kong born Adrienne Lau of Global Village Records, debuted at No 16 on the U.S. Hot Single Sales charts of Billboard Magazine (July 22, 2006 Edition).
The single "Wanna be Happy" does exactly what the title promises. It is apropos in today's troubled times. Ask anyone what they want most in life; "Wanna be Happy" will be one of the top answers. Once you hear it, it will become your favorite mantra.
As a trailblazer, Adrienne is the first Asian-American Pop Star to chart on billboard in recent times. This is only the beginning. She is poised for bigger and greater things as the airwaves embrace not only her hot single 'Wanna Be Happy' but also other chart busting singles in her self-titled album 'Adrienne.'
Insiders in the business think her album is more than a blockbuster. With songs like 'You're the One' featuring Petey Pablo, music by recently billboard featured producers "Co-stars," not to mention writers and producers who work with the likes of Beyonce, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and other chart busters. The future and the musical horizon have never looked better for Adrienne, who started 2006 with a big bang in more ways than one. She hosted the New Year's Eve countdown in Brazil. She attended the Grammy's and the Oscars in LA. Shortly thereafter, she was in France, Germany and England where she had a brief respite attending the Brits Awards with Kanye West. Days before, they were both part of the ostentatious merry making post Grammy Party in Los Angeles. She is also shooting for her new reality series 'Life of a Pop Star,' which is in post-production.
Adrienne is poised to be not only a torch bearer for the young Pop/Urban youngsters, of every land and clime, she believes in bridging the gap by meet and greets, coupled with live performances. In June 2006, she embarked on a tour of Asia, where she made significant stops in Mainland China. She had a photo shoot in Hong Kong and will soon be gracing the pages of Cosmo Girl as well as several other magazines based in Shanghai. As the international spokes model for Vigoss Jeans (manufacturer for Seven for Mankind), Adrienne was delighted to visit the headquarters.
The Asian trip culminated in Hong Kong, her hometown, where she reinforced the import of her musical crusade to represent and entertain, whilst changing the musical landscape by breaking stereotypes, using her music as clear incontrovertible evidence.
