LOS ANGELES (Top 40 Charts/ MONTY ARE I Official Website) - Currently wrapping up tour dates with Rx Bandits, Stolen Transmission's MONTY ARE I are getting ready to launch not only their own career with their album Wall of People (release date: August 1, 2006), but their debut is the inaugural release for the label as well. The album was recorded with producer Matt Squire (Panic! At The Disco, Receiving End of Sirens) at his Baltimore studio. In addition to five new tracks, the album will include six tracks remixed by Squire from the band's self-financed indie EP The Red Shift. The Providence
Phoenix called the EP "a triumphant kick in the sack with some balls-out rock exuding the breathless exuberance of Steve
Aiello and Ryan Muir accompanied by dynamic percussion and blistering guitars."
Following up their standout performance at May's Bamboozle 2006 in the parking lot of Giants Stadium in New Jersey, Monty Are I have been touring the US and making their mark known everywhere they go, including a host of June dates on the Vans Warped Tour, and a tour afterwards with Jack's Mannequin and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. They are currently wrapping up three weeks with Rx Bandits.
Monty Are I – comprised of Steve Aiello (vocals, lead guitar), Mike Matarese (bass), Andrew Borstein (keyboards, trombone, sequencing), and identical twins Justin (drums) and Ryan Muir (vocals, trumpet, guitar) – have been friends since high school in Cranston, Rhode Island, when the first incarnations of the band were assembled. Similar to Lynyrd Skynyrd and others, the band's name is homage to their high school music teacher. Originally called "Monty", they were forced to slightly alter their name to "Monty Are I" when other bands had laid earlier claim to the moniker. But the name change will have no lasting effect. "The fact remains the same," they wrote on their website, "we're 100% the same band we were yesterday and the day before, and will always continue to be. No matter what our name is, that will never change."
Spreading the word will be their dedicated Street Team of over 1,400 members spread worldwide from New England to Australia, plus 10,000+ friends they've made on myspace.com, and visitors to their own website (montyrock.com). With the name change hassles behind them, Monty Are I now stand ready to take their exhilarating 'action rock' straight to the top of the charts.
