
NASHVILLE, TN (TJ Martell Foundation) - Country in the Rockies XIII, the premier winter skiing adventure benefiting the TJ Martell Foundation, will be skiing to Steamboat Ski Resort in Steamboat, Springs, Colorado this year. The announcement was made by Tom Annastas and John Huie, co chairs for the event. Country in the Rockies will be held January 28-31 leaving for the first time its base of Crested Butte, Colorado
In making the announcement, Annastas and Huie, cited the recent sale of the Club Med property and on site renovations currently underway by the new owners. 'This event has always provided first class service and accommodations for our guests. It was the consensus of the Martell Board that we move the event to insure the continuation of this tradition in the midst of the Crested Butte remodeling,' Annastas explained. Huie, an avid skier, said he has skied Steamboat Springs and 'found the slopes to be excellent.'
Country in the Rockies was started 13 years ago by Frances Preston, President of the T.J. Martell Foundation, to combine fund raising with songwriting celebrities in a unique winter environment. TJ Martell is 501c3 non-profit organization that supports innovative research for leukemia, cancer and AIDS. One of the top centers supported by the Foundation is the Frances Williams Preston laboratories at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
The many talents who have participated in Country in the Rockies include: Willie Nelson, Brooks and Dunn, Kenny Loggins, Clint Black, Gretchen Wilson, Big and Rich and Brad Paisley.
