MINNEAPOLIS (FACE, Inc.) - The Twin Cities music community has rallied to produce a benefit concert for long-time music promoter Lee Ann Weimar, who is recovering from debilitating back surgery. Friends and family will join forces at the Fine Line on Sunday, August 27th, to celebrate Lee Ann's recovery and career, starting at 6:00 PM. The evening will feature performances by Tim Sparks, Willie Murphy, The X-Boys featuring former members of The Wallets, Suicide Commandos, and Suburbs, and Dave Pirner and Danny Murphy of Soul Asylum, among others.

There will also be an extensive silent auction including items ranging from autographed music memorabilia to concert tickets, concert travel packages, and gift certificates for a wide range of items and services from dinners out to spa services. Donated by Lee Ann's many friends, supporters, and business associates, the emphasis will be music and fun, a fitting theme for Lee Ann's benefit.

Lee Ann's career began behind the record counter at the Wax Museum on Lake Street, where she formed life-long friendships with up and coming musicians, record label promoters and executives, and music industry insiders from agents and managers to radio station execs. Throughout her career, which includes stints at Slash Records, First Avenue, Compass Entertainment, and most recently the Hennepin Theater Group, Lee Ann has been an integral part of the local music scene, promoting bands, records, and concerts, and the careers of her friends and associates. She is now responsible for scheduling all of the Landmark Theaters on Hennepin Avenue, in her role as Client Services Manager for that organization.

The immediate and heartfelt response of the local and national music industry to Lee Ann's recent difficulties attests to her value as both a member of that community, and a friend. We encourage everyone whose life has been graced by music over the past thirty years to join us for an evening of great music with good friends.
