Lost Trailers initially caught the attention of Willie
Nelson in 2000 when he heard an early demo and invited them to play his Annual 4th of July Picnic. Three stolen trailers later and six years of non-stop touring, the Atlanta-based quintet brings their straight from the hip country music to country fans everywhere with the release of their BNA Records debut, The Lost Trailers, on August 29.
Their music features Stokes Nielson's gift for songwriting, Ryder Lee's passionate vocals, Manny Medina's signature guitar licks, Jeff Potter and Andrew Nielson's driving rhythm, topped off with distinctive Trailer harmonies. The Lost Trailers take contemporary country music and give it a youthful, distinctive stamp while giving new life to age-old strengths such as storytelling, musicianship, positive themes and an underdog spirit.
"We've wanted to make this record our whole life," Stokes says, "From growing up in the rural south, to touring all over America the past few years, this album embodies what The Lost Trailers are all about."
After the loss of their third trailer, the band was devastated and didn't know if they would be financially able to continue, having lost thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Over a meeting in Atlanta at their favorite BBQ restaurant, the band decided to give their dream one last shot. Shortly after that decision, Nashville producer Blake Chancey caught the band's live show at the legendary Billy Bob's Texas, and immediately offered to produce their next record. Within months they were signed to BNA Records, and their single, "Why Me," recently entered the Country Singles Chart.
"We're very proud that this album is self-titled," says Ryder. "This is our sound...this is Trailer Country."
The Lost Trailers was produced by Blake Chancey with Stokes having penned 10 of the 11 tracks. 'Why Me' and 'Simple Life' deal with real-life struggles and redemption, while the sunny 'Summer of Love' brings back memories of lost summer breaks. 'Dixie Boy Special,' 'Hey Baby' and 'Gravy' evoke a let loose and just have fun attitude.
Recently chosen as the only country act for AOL Music Breakers, The Lost Trailers join past Breakers artists including 2006 Best New Artist Grammy winner John Legend, Fall Out Boy, Sugarland, Avril Lavigne, Josh Groban, 50 Cent and Michelle Branch, among others.
