NEW YORK (Dayna Kurtz Official Website) - On September 9, acclaimed New York City songwriter and virtuosic slide guitarist Dayna Kurtz will kick off a 13-city tour in support of her critically acclaimed fourth album, Another Black Feather. "Kurtz' coherent eclecticism continues to be her virtue," writes Harp. "Another Black Feather ranges from urban- twang seduction to political-personal diatribe...maybe she's just timeless" (No Depression).

Another Black Feather was born in the nomadic lands of the Sonoran desert in Arizona. Two solid years of touring the world behind Beautiful Yesterday combined with her newfound marital bliss had left Kurtz little personal time; she planned an escape from Brooklyn to write, "In a hermitage maintained by some lovely people for solitary religious introspection. There was no electricity and nobody around for miles... It was so quiet at night I could hear the blood beat in my ears. My artist-friends were mostly envious, but some people looked at a photo of the hut and said, 'is that a dirt floor'?"

Kurtz wrote constantly for two weeks with no distractions, channeling the spirits of Nina, Piaf, Nico, old bluegrass balladry ("Banks of the Edisto" - "I knew an amazing man there and we'd sit on the dock, passing his banjo back and forth. He was fighting cancer at the time. When I found out he died I had his borrowed banjo with me and I wrote the song.") and heart-wrenching, surreal South American folklore. ("Venezuela" - "a dream I had, top to bottom."). The Delta barroom stomp "Nola" was written, "way before Katrina," says Kurtz. "The song is every longing I've ever had to abandon New York City and move there."

Dayna's career has exploded in Europe, where she recently returned from a sold-out tour of theaters in support of Another Black Feather. In Holland, she can be found on national late night television shows, and she is the cover girl of high-profile magazines covers in Spain. "... everything falls breathtakingly together: lyrics, melody and that tremendous voice, " hails NRC Handelsblad, the largest paper in Holland. "Mitchell, Piaf, Holiday - she belongs alongside such huge names."
"Every musician should feel like a rock star in at least one country," says Kurtz.
Another Black Feather was released in the summer of 2006 on Kismet Records.
