NEW YORK, NY (By Fernando Aguilar/ Sire Records ) - "Thank you sweeties for helping us make history in the realm of Finnish rock and roll by accepting and embracing the quirky nature of the dance macabre known as HIM." - Ville Valo of HIM

"Dark Light," the current Sire Record's album from Finnish rockers HIM, has been certified gold by the RIAA. This is a quite a huge feat considering this is the first Finnish band to sell 500,000 copies of their record in America!

Just to recap on the success of "Dark Light," the album sold more than 45,000 records in the first week of release, debuted in the Top 20 of Billboard's Top 200 Chart and has so far spawned two hits for both radio and MTV, "Wings of a Butterfly" and "Killing Loneliness." The single, "Wings of a Butterfly," went Top 20 on Active Rock and Alterative radio, and the video was in heavy rotation on FUSE and became an Elite 8 on MTV2.

The band has completed two successful headlining tours with sold-out shows all across the country including two shows at the Wiltern in LA (5,000 capacity) and a Hammerstein Ballroom (2,500 capacity) show in New York. The success has earned the band spots on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "Last Call With Carson Daly." Along the tours more and more fans have begun to recognize HIM's distinct logo known as the Heartagram, which has been compared to a modern day Rolling Stone's tongue in Newsweek.
