New York, NY (SASi Public Relations/ lukeparkin.com) - Luke Parkin is becoming widely known as one of the great young poets of the piano, this week he officially released his latest album entitled Things I Didn't Know I Loved. The album is a two disk CD set of contemporary classical piano music inspired by great poetry of the twentieth century. The album is likely to receive widespread attention from the instrumental music world. The new compilation features poetically inspired music by legendary Canadian poet P.K. Page and many others including:

AR Ammons, WS Merwin, WD Snodgrass, CP Cafery, Gloria Fuertes, Ingeborg Bachmann, Inger Christensen, Theodore Roethke, Francis Ponge, Hart Crane, Octavio Paz, Nazim Hikmet, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Carlos Drummond De Andrade, Czeslaw Milosz, Edwin Muir, Robert Frost & Dylan Thomas.

This major project was the first of its kind. Parkin's love of poetry of all kinds and nationalities is imbued so vibrantly in this collection. Parkin admits it was an emotionally draining and thoroughly intensive process that enabled bringing the album to fruition.

The pianist writes on the CD insert,' In this long diary of music whose compositions extends over only a sliver of a century filled with revolutions in letters and modern art, I wanted to assay what I concede to be the blood-brain-barrier of poetry; a place where words hybridize with sound in a world where most everything is implied. I was opposed to using a vast resource of influence in tonal systems, innovations and many other devices that became the stuff of a hundred years of modern permutation and so I didn't. I hoped that the music would associate and not disassociate. What I rendered turned out to be deeply personal like all poetry.'

Luke Parkin is one of the younger generation's most dynamic and intriguing talents. His record archive is comprised of some 69 albums and is evidence of a vast and unprecedented creative mind. Parkin's potential is almost unlimited in its sheer breadth and musical radius, and his ability to reinvent his sound with every subsequent opus number or album is evidence of a truly multifaceted, accomplished and prodigious artist.
Parkin's facility at the keyboard was apparent at age six, and he has studied serious music all of his life. He has been taught by some of the most distinguished artists in North America

His album WINTER JOURNAL, released this past year, was nominated for a National OMA Award for Outstanding Instrumental Album of the year alongside the Pulitzer Prize winning composer David Del Tredici. Parkin has been featured in dozens of music/lifestyle magazines and newspaper publications across the United States and Canada and was recently chosen as print model for the 2006/2007 print ad media awareness campaign for the Tourette Syndrome Association of America and is finalizing arrangements to act as the official goodwill ambassador to the Tourette syndrome Foundation of Canada. Proceeds from Parkin's forthcoming release Things I didn't know I loved and WINTER JOURNAL will benefit both national charities.

Never arresting his near compulsive creative ethic as composer, Parkin is immediately completing final arrangements to begin collaborating with British/Candian Singer Songwriter MOIRA a former featured vocalist with megastar DJ Paul Oakenfold for a project that is planned for a limited edition release next Summer

The CD's are available at the following online retailers: Amazon.com, Pacificmusic.net, CD Baby.com, Tower, Apple iTunes, Arvato, AudioLunchbox, Bitmunk, BuyMusic, Chondo, Daiki, DestraMusic, DigitalKiosk, Emusic, HearMusic, iTunes-Australia, iTunes-Canada, iTunes-Europe, iTunes-Germany, iTunes-Japan, iTunes-UK, Karma Download, Liquid Digital Media, LoudEye, Mouzika, MP3-Extension, MP3tunes, Mperia, MSN Music, MusicIsHere, MusicMatch, MusicNet, MusicNow, MyKidsTunes, Napster, NewViews, NextRadio, PassAlong, PlayIndies, Puretracks, QTRnote, Rhapsody, Ruckus, RuleRadio, SonicGarden, Sony Connect, Tradebit, TreeTunes, WrapFactory, DigiPie, TastyAudio, Nareos & PeerImpact.
