R.E.M. Remix 'Reveal'

NEW YORK (Remhq Official Website) - REM have placed ten remixes of songs from Reveal on their Web site, www.remhq.com, for fans to download. Frontman Michael Stipe said that he heard elements of the electronic music that he listens to within some of the tracks, which became the inspiration behind what the group has titled R.E.M. IX, though there are no plans for commercial release for the reconfigured songs.

Six of Reveal's twelve songs were remixed by the likes of Her Space Holiday's Marc Bianchi, Andy LeMaster and Matthew Herbert.
"I like the idea that music lovers who are not R.E.M. fans, or pop music fans, might hear one of these and not have heard the album version and take it as the definitive mix," Stipe said. "I wanted them to completely reinterpret and rethink something we had done."
