NEW YORK (Rob Zombie Official, Ramones Fans Websites) - U2, Metallica, Tom Waits, Garbage, and the
Pretenders are the latest acts to sign on for DV8/Columbia's upcoming Ramones tribute album.
Rob Zombie is spearheading the collection, which is also set to feature contributions from
Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Red Hot
Chili Peppers, Green Day, Rancid, Marilyn Manson, and the Offspring, among others. Look for the as-yet-untitled album sometime this summer.
On his official Web site, Zombie reveals U2 will tackle "Beat on the Brat," Metallica will cover "We're a Happy Family," and Waits will handle "Jacky and Judy." The Pretenders have recorded "Something To Believe In," while Garbage has put its unique stamp on "I Just Want To Have Something To Do." Zombie himself contributes a cover of "Blitzkreig Bop" and is "putting the finishing touches" on the album artwork.
The lone previously tipped track that no longer appears on the list is Billy Corgan's "I Want You Around." Joe Strummer was set to cover "Blitzkreig Bop" but told Billboard.com that scheduling conflicts prevented he and his band from getting it finished in time.
