BRYN MAWR, Pa. (ArkivMusic LLC) - The Source for Classical Music Recordings (https://www.arkivmusic.com) announced today that is has reached agreement with Universal Classics to release their out-of-print classical catalog as part of ArkivMusic's ArkivCD program. The Universal labels Decca, Philips, and Deutsche Grammophon (among others) include a roster of the greatest classical recording artists of all time. The wealth of music to be reintroduced is extraordinary. There are already over 1,700 previously out-of-print recordings available at ArkivMusic.com, with thousands more to be issued in the coming months. ArkivMusic manufacturers these discs using their production-on-demand system for producing, packaging, and shipping recordings. All music and packaging elements are produced within 24 hours of the time a customer places an online order. 'The reason a large number of classical recordings are no longer available is that so many of these 'deep catalog' titles no longer meet the minimum sales thresholds required to cover the cost structure of conventional distribution. We solve the 'out-of-print' issue at ArkivMusic by only producing, packaging, and shipping a CD when a customer places an order,' said Eric Feidner, president of ArkivMusic. As one of the largest retailers of classical recordings in the world, ArkivMusic offers these previously unavailable recordings alongside a complete selection of practically every classical recording currently in print. 'I am very happy to make so many of our classical recordings from the archives available once again to consumers, thanks to ArkivMusic,' said Joseph Szurly, Vice President for Catalog Development at Universal Classics.
