FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (JAG PR) -The
John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, a unique non-profit state-of-the-art mobile recording and multimedia studio, will make its third appearance at Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, January 8-12, 2007. The Bus is celebrating its tenth year of touring the country and providing free workshops to kids in schools and community outreach facilities. To celebrate their tenth year anniversary, bus organizers will debut Come Together: The Official
John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Guide to
Music and Video (Thomson), featuring a book signing with the Grateful Dead's
Bob Weir on Tuesday, January 9th. There has been tremendous celebrity support for the Bus over the last decade from artists including the
Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Macy Gray, Don Felder (Eagles), Pussycat Dolls, Pat Metheny, Tim McGraw, Al Jarreau,
Vanessa Carlton, and a host of others.
The Bus features front and rear studios that are loaded with the latest equipment and gear including the Apple dual 2.5 GHz Power Mac G5 desktops, a full complement of 17-, 15- and 12-inch PowerBook G4 notebooks, 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Displays, Roland Keyboards, Audio-Technica Microphones, Digidesign's ProTools HD3 Accel, Aphex mic preamps, Neutrik connectors and patch panels, Furman Sound's headphone systems, DiscMakers' ReflexPro7 DVD�R replicator, Stanton's Final Scratch, Brian Moore iGuitars, Sibelius and Reason software, and more. Throughout the four day conference, attendees can participate in daily tours of the Bus that will feature introductions to some of the state-of-the art equipment and gear housed on the Bus.
Presentation Highlights taking place at the Bus include:
* Book Signing on Tuesday, January 9th, 3:45 - 4:30 p.m. with Bob Weir (Grateful Dead). The legendary singer, songwriter and guitarist will be on hand to sign copies of the newly released book, Come Together: The Official John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Guide to Music and Video. The book and accompanying DVD feature the products and solutions found on the Lennon Bus, chronicles audio and video sessions recorded on board with students of all ages, and includes interviews with celebrated musicians like Bob who have worked on board. Pick up a copy and get it signed!
* Come Together: The Story of the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus presentation, at the Music and Sound Stage. Join Lennon Bus engineer Steve Miller for an in depth look at the mission, products and solutions that make the non-profit Lennon Bus the world's best mobile recording studio. Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Vincent Laforet will also be on hand to take a group photograph of the first 250 attendees who come to the Bus on Tuesday, January 9th, at 1:00 p.m., to commemorate its 10 year anniversary. Repeat presentations are scheduled for Thursday, January 11th at 2:00 p.m. and Friday, January 12th at 2:00 p.m.
* Digital Photography Stage with Vincent Laforet on Wednesday, January 10th from 2:00 -2:45 p.m. Join the NY Times photographer for an in-depth look at his work and his use of Aperture to create his memorable images.
* Friday, January 12th at 1:00 p.m., join Philip Nicol and Groovy Music by Sibelius on the Music and Sound Stage. Groovy Music is a series of 3 exciting software programs for elementary school students ages 5 to 11 that teaches the basics of rhythm, pitch, and composition using pictures and animals. This presentation will include all three products, showcasing the ease of use and fun children have with Groovy Music.
The public can enjoy additional performances, which will demonstrate Apple's latest audio and video solutions, by world-class talent staged in front of the Bus inside the Moscone Center, throughout all fours days of the Expo. All visitors to the Bus will receive a free gift bag including Maxell product, Guitar Player magazines, and other giveaways and information.
The Lennon Bus is made possible through the cooperation of many partners and corporate sponsors, most notably Maxell Corporation, Apple Computer and NAMM (the international music products association), who believe in the value of providing young people with the opportunity to be inspired to write and make music and music videos, while being introduced to those products and technologies that facilitate the creative process.
During 2007, the Bus will visit Apple retail stores in the following cities: Pleasanton, CA; Miami; Los Angeles; Denver; Las Vegas; Tucson, AZ; New York City; Boston; Chicago; Minneapolis, MN; and Troy, MI.
