CHICAGO, IL. (Top40-Charts/ Mattel) - Mattel and AWR Music Productions LLC have announced the worldwide concert production of 'Barbie at the Symphony,' debuting on February 10, 2007, with the Columbus Symphony at the Ohio Theatre and opening globally within the coming months.

Since 2001, six best-selling Barbie princess-themed films, such as 'Barbie in the Nutcracker', 'Barbie of Swan Lake' and 'Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses,' have introduced millions of children to classical ballet and other forms of the arts, including classical music. Released in more than 30 languages, the films have had huge international success, selling more than 37 million collective units worldwide.

Now, for the first time ever, girls around the world will be able to experience a new form of Barbie entertainment that will further inspire and encourage their imaginations and continue to introduce them to the arts. Families will enjoy listening to the beautiful scores from the films – including Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker and Swan Lake, Beethoven's Sixth Symphony, and Dvorak's Symphony from the New World – played live by some of the world's finest symphony orchestras while memorable singing and dancing scenes from the Barbie movies play on a big screen.

"Young hearts will be delighted by the movie magic of Barbie onscreen while audiences of all ages will be enchanted by classical music performed live by some of the world's most renowned symphony orchestras,' said Barry Waldo, Senior Director, Mattel Entertainment Marketing & Strategy. 'It is especially rewarding for Mattel to be introducing young people to the arts with a symphony hall experience that combines a world-class orchestra with the entertainment power of Barbie.'

Grammy Award-Winning Artist Arnie Roth, who has produced the music for each of the six of the Barbie princess-themed movies, has been named Music Director and Conductor for 'Barbie at the Symphony.'

''Barbie at the Symphony' is a great way for young people to be introduced to the creative world of fine arts,' said Arnie Roth, music director and conductor. 'Barbie fans can experience the colorful and fantastic adventures from the films and discover the sounds of a live symphony orchestra.'

The premiere performance will take place with the Columbus Symphony at the Ohio Theatre in Columbus, Ohio, on February 10, 2007, at 2 p.m. Additional performances scheduled to-date include the Detroit Symphony and the Fort Worth Symphony. Tickets for the Columbus engagement are now on sale with additional venues going on sale in the coming months across North America, South America, Japan, South Korea, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia. To purchase tickets for the world premiere performance and for additional information visit www.ColumbusSymphony.com.

'Barbie at the Symphony' is produced by AWR Music Productions LLC and Mattel Worldwide Live Entertainment.
