Brentwood, TN. (Sparrow Records) - The
Passion 07 four-day worship conference began January 1, welcoming over 23,000 people to downtown Atlanta representing 49 of the United States, 32 countries, and 1,165 college campuses worldwide. Via spoken words and musical performances, attendees are being challenged to impact lives on a global scale.
'Part of the equation here at Passion 07 is to move to the place in our journey where we are living a life that is pleasing to the Lord,' said Louie Giglio, founder and director of the Passion conferences. 'The Kingdom of God is ever growing and we are here to celebrate that Kingdom. God has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us to the Kingdom of his Son. This story is our story of rescue by Jesus . . . He's the one we're celebrating.'
Along with stirring messages from Giglio and popular authors Beth Moore and John Piper, plus music from Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, Charlie Hall, and Matt Redman, attendees are taking an active role in the event through Passion 07's Do Something Now campaign. In connection with the Touch Atlanta charity, students have already brought in more than 20,000 items, from towels to socks, for the city's homeless population.
'These people may not know anything about Passion, but we want them to know that followers of Christ have been here,' said Giglio.
Also at Passion 07, there is an onsite Global Awakening: World Mobilization Area where a goal has been set to raise over $500,000 in global aid for organizations including Blood:Water Mission, the Compassion Child Sponsorship Program, The Seed Company's One Verse campaign, Antioch Ministries International, Cure International, Bibles Unbound/Voice of the Martyr, and Stop The Traffik.
For those unable to attend the actual conference, audio streams of the main sessions from Passion 07 are being posted online at 268generation.com for 24 hours after they originally take place.
