ATLANTA, GA. (Top40 Charts/ 1720 Entertainment) -The music industry's most diverse and progressive independent label, Atlanta based 1720 Records, is now re-named 1720 Entertainment. The announcement was made today by 1720 Entertainment President/CEO Terry K. Johnson. 'Our name change reflects our broader vision to grow with the industry as music continues to converge with film, TV, and even further into the digital and mobile space,' stated Johnson. 'The change is a reflection of the energy and resources we are dedicating to maximizing this convergence; to take our artists to every conceivable and currently inconceivable platform possible.' 1720 Entertainment answers that commitment, placing itself among the major labels in terms of presence and positioning, with the launch of an aggressive digital street campaign for the Atlanta Hip-Hop trio C-SIDE's debut single, 'MySpace Freak'. The initial and almost immediate success of C-SIDE's online campaign has provided a unique setup to their offline efforts at mixshow and commercial urban radio, which launches this month. 1720 Entertainment has also pioneered into the relatively unknown genre of Reggae/Soca with the Caribbean breakout group, ELVIS WHITE, launching a two-year artist/genre development campaign that will climax with the long awaited release this May of ELVIS WHITE's debut LP PROMISE – Live & Direct. In addition to the initial Caribbean digital single 'Sexy Waist,' 1720 has also prepared a 12-minute film short on the group entitled, 'The Road to Promise' depicting ELVIS WHITE's long struggle to stardom from the British Virgin Islands. The film will be serviced to the Canadian market and made available to MTV's Caribbean channel, Tempo and other Caribbean outlets. In an effort to ready consumers for this breakout sound, 1720 Entertainment has traveled parallel paths in marketing ELVIS WHITE to both the mainstream and Urban/Caribbean domestic and international audiences. 1720 Entertainment has also entered into the Country music genre with the release of African American Country singer/songwriter, Rissi Palmer. Advance singles by Palmer are available this month on Yahoo! Music Launchcast Country Radio, enabling Rissi's fans to help select and launch her first single. 'We are charging into 2007 with a new name, a steadfast mission, and a team of artists and staff members committed to reaching the tipping point of success,' states Johnson. 'I have great faith in our people, the 1720 artists, and their music.'
