LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Atco Records) - ART GARFUNKEL has confirmed further dates on his in-progress tour including 16 European shows in support of his forthcoming new album SOME ENCHANTED EVENING. Marking his 12th solo album, SOME ENCHANTED EVENING will hit stores January 30, 2007 on Atco Records. The "Enchanted Evening" tour kicked off this past weekend (1/6/07) at a sold-out show in Cerritos, CA, where GARFUNKEL debuted two songs from the new album. The U.S. trek resumes this weekend (1/12) in Las Vegas and the European tour launches March 9 in Newcastle, England and will conclude April 1 in Vienna, Austria.

SOME ENCHANTED EVENING is a musical celebration of material from the 20th century's greatest songwriters, including Rodgers & Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, Antonio Carlos Jobim and George Gershwin. "I've been loving this stuff all my life," GARFUNKEL says. The album is the organic next chapter in GARFUNKEL's life, as he reflects on fatherhood (he had his second son last year) and the chaotic world we live in: "In this nervous world I want to soothe. It's a great time for moderation, for thoughtfulness, for dialogue, for the great Exhale, for humor. A great time for a sweet sound, a visceral, charming, prayerful sound."

For the album, GARFUNKEL rejoined forces with producer Richard Perry (Barbra Streisand, Rod Stewart, Carly Simon, Ringo Starr, Pointer Sisters, Harry Nilsson), who recorded GARFUNKEL's 1975 platinum-selling BREAKAWAY album. With Perry, GARFUNKEL found a forum for his revered vocal style, recapturing the spirit of their BREAKAWAY sessions, which produced the hit "I Only Have Eyes For You." "In a sense, Richard and I picked up where we left off. This album is Richard's elegant production, it fits me good, and I am especially proud of it," says GARFUNKEL. "Some of the songs I brought in like 'Some Enchanted Evening' and Harold Arlen's 'Let's Fall In Love.' I had my favorites and he had his, like 'Life Is But A Dream' and 'Quiet Nights.' We both love Johnny Mathis and Chet Baker."

In a recent piece in California's Long Beach Press Telegram, Phillip Zonkel noted the album's "very sexy grooves" and said "the disc conjures romantic images of great late- night cabaret dancing (1/5/07)." Discussing the new album and a few of his favorite tracks, GARFUNKEL told Zonkel, "I think it's my best singing," (about the song "I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face"). GARFUNKEL adds, "If singing is about being very artful and controlled about what is going on in the heart and the vocal chords, I think the control and finesse is real good in that one." He calls his cover of Harold Arlen's "Let's Fall In Love" a "joyous romp" and of Gershwin's "Someone To Watch Over Me" he says, "You have to put the phrasing between the cracks, like you're running your fingers through her beautiful brunette hair."
