Cascova - A Fear Of Victory and a New Direction

ALBUQUERQUE (Top40 Charts/ Cascova Official Website) - It's been a long and noticeable year since Zenon Zamora (the artist behind Cascova) graced us with his art. In 2006, the only buzz from Cascova-Land was the occasional update to Cascova's MySpace page and a total revamping to www.Cascova.com. Finally, amidst rumors that Cascova had "disbanded", Cascova fans were shocked to discover that the first single ("It's Alright") off the new album (affectionately titled, "Fear Of Victory") had been released about a week before the album's official release date.

"It's Alright" boasts a dancy beat with a jazzy / blues-like melody; elements not typically found in Cascova's staple doom-and-gloom signature sound. It must be noted however that Zenon's mystical voice is unchanged and poised to perfection; as evidenced by the stellar vocal arrangements and the double entendre of the main vocal line, marking this obvious radio-hit with Zenon's gothic-scent.

"I wanted the first single to hit the ground with the force of an atomic blast... It's Alright is indeed a departure from the Cascova formula, if you will, but only in a superficial sense... The art, my dear, is very much in the style of... ME! (laughs)", says Zenon of the first single. The rest of the album and upcoming singles therein are in the style that Cascova fans have come to cherish in Zenon's music. The thematic album title is fitting considering the lyrical content of the tracks.

Of the 18-month hiatus, Zenon says, "It wasn't the right time for me to create. I had become complacent in the domesticity of my personal life and artistic expression seemed almost impossible... I'm not sure how or when, but the old sparkle returned to my veins like a freight train..."

Whatever the reason, Cascova fans everywhere are relieved to hear that Cascova is back in the game. The sudden re-emergence of Zenon from the shadow of 2006 is a welcomed and much needed treat in the underground music scene. Let's see what 2007 will bring.
