NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Nettwerk America/ Red Distribution) - Multiple award-winning singer/songwriter CHANTAL KREVIAZUK is set to release GHOST STORIES, her fourth studio album, this May via Nettwerk America/Red Distribution. One of the most respected artists and songwriters in North America, Chantal has written songs for the likes of Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, Hillary Duff and
Kelly Clarkson and has performed on some of the biggest soundtracks of the last decade.
As evidenced in the driving first single "All I Can Do," GHOST STORIES is the most rhythmic work yet from Chantal. "I think that was just a reaction to the heart and passion I was putting into the songs," she says. "The album rocks and has a lot of rhythm, which is really exciting for me. A lot of times when people become older and wiser they get more melancholy and reflective, and it shows in the tempo of their music. I didn't want to be harnessed to any particular tempo..."
In a rave review in Billboard, Chuck Taylor says the "Keane-like first single 'All I Can Do,' which she wrote/produced with husband Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace), easily outbids much of the junk reaching the upper reaches of the U.S. charts, with its soaring sing along chorus, orchestrated production and message of unconditional love. For fans of Olympic-quality musical prose, Kreviazuk is a gift worth searching out." Taylor also notes that the album is "...packed with vocal passion, smart lyrics and piano-driven melodic masterpieces." (January 27,2007).
GHOST STORIES was co-written and produced by Chantal's husband Raine Maida. "It really is rewarding to be able to work with your best friend/partner," she reveals. "It's something you can't recreate with someone that you are just starting a relationship with. We always know that anything we do to/with/for each other comes from a place of positivity and that ultimately helps us make the very best music together."
It has been four years since Chantal released her last album, the stunningly personal What If It All Means Something. During that time, she has firmly established herself as one of the premiere songwriters in the industry, hitting No 1 on the charts with the song "Walk Away," which she penned for Kelly Clarkson. Her latest writing project is for new Epic Records signing Cheyenne, the star of an MTV reality show.
In her native Canada, Chantal is a Ford Models Talent and recently signed a deal to become the official Canadian spokesperson for Garnier Nutrisse Cream, the campaign of which launched in March 2006. Chantal is also devoted to numerous charitable causes including War Child Canada, the Canadian Women's Foundation, MAC Fashion Cares, the BC Cancer Research Centre and the Concert For Tsunami Relief.
