PLANO, TX. (Top40 Charts/ Frito-Lay) - Lay's potato chips and the Make-A-Wish Foundation announced today a partnership asking people across the country to "Share the Joy" by sharing their moments of joy on Lays.com. For each moment of joy submitted online, the Lay's brand will make a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The program kicked off today with country music star
Tim McGraw and Make-A-Wish(R) child, Taylor Hobson, age 11 from Bryan, TX. Taylor, who was diagnosed with spina bifida at birth, has had a lifelong wish to meet McGraw, and today her wish was granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation with the help of the Lay's brand. A video of Taylor's wish granting event and the special performance for her by
Tim McGraw will be featured on Lays.com.
"Taylor's sprit and determination is inspiration to all of us," McGraw said. "One of the best things about music is that it can bring joy to people's lives. Hopefully this partnership with Lay's and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, along with everyone who participates, will bring joy to the lives of kids like Taylor."
"The Make-A-Wish Foundation wants to thank Tim McGraw, Lay's brand and all of those who help make wishes come true for courageous children such as Taylor," said David Williams, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America president and chief executive officer. "We hope seeing this wish granted will encourage people to be part of the Lay's and Make-A-Wish Foundation's 'Share the Joy' program so we can continue our mission of granting the heartfelt wishes of many more children facing life-threatening medical conditions."
The Lay's brand and Make-A-Wish Foundation "Share the Joy" program begins today and continues through May 31. Lay's is inviting consumers to share their own moment of joy online at https://www.lays.com, with the goal of raising money to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation continue its efforts to grant wishes to deserving children. For each submission, the Make-A-Wish Foundation will receive $1, up to a maximum of $460,000, from the Lay's brand. The "Share the Joy" program is the first effort as part of the multi-year partnership between the Lay's brand and the world's largest wish-granting organization.
"The Lay's brand has long celebrated the joy found in the simple pleasures of life, and we are delighted to continue these efforts through the support and the joyful mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation," said Charlie Veraza, vice president, marketing, Frito-Lay North America. "Together through the 'Share the Joy' program, Lay's and the Make-A-Wish Foundation can help people nationwide recognize their own power to help grant a wish."
The partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the "Share the Joy" program are part of the Lay's brand's continued promise to help share moments of joy. Lay's has recently launched a national television advertising campaign around this theme with the new tagline "100% Pure Joy."
Last year, the Lay's brand announced it had reduced the saturated fat in its potato chips by more than 50 percent by switching to sunflower oil, a healthier oil - all without sacrificing taste. In addition to reducing the saturated fats, the move to sunflower oil increases the mono- and polyunsaturated fats. As with Frito-Lay's entire portfolio of snack chips, Lay's continue to have 0 grams of trans fat per 1 ounce serving.
Frito-Lay North America is the $10 billion convenient foods division of PepsiCo, which is headquartered in Purchase, NY. In addition to Frito-Lay, PepsiCo divisions include Pepsi-Cola, Quaker Foods, Gatorade and Tropicana.
