PHOENIX, AZ. (Top40 Charts/ Aezra Records) - On Thurs., March 22, emerging pop/rock singer-songwriter Raquel Aurilia, a
Phoenix resident, will headline "The Grand Slam Glam Jam" at the hot new Glam Lounge in Scottsdale. The upscale nightclub/eatery is the latest addition to The Mix Shops in Scottsdale's vibrant Southbridge district, an assemblage of unique culinary establishments and fashion-forward shops hand-picked by Arizona-based retail entrepreneur Jennifer Croll. The Glam Jam, which starts at 7PM and continues all evening, marks the Glam Lounge's official grand opening. Raquel and her band, who accompanied her on her recently released debut album "Finding My Way," will take the stage - outside the Mix Shops at the Town Plaza on the corner of 6th and Stetson - at 9PM. Solo artist Casey Frazier will perform an acoustic opening set.
The event benefits the Scottsdale Charros, the special activity organization that - along with the City of Scottsdale - hosts the San Francisco Giants Spring Training games at Scottsdale Stadium every February and March. One of the city's largest philanthropic contributors, the Charros are renowned for their support of education, youth programs, athletics and college scholarships. In addition to Raquel and her husband, Giants infielder Rich Aurilia, the Glam Jam's host committee includes Mix Shops founders Cristian and Jennifer Croll and MLB players Brian and Marcus Giles, Russ Ortiz, Randy Winn, Kerry Wood and Barry Zito (who will sit in on guitar for part of Raquel Aurilia's set).
A limited quantity of $100 VIP Tickets for Glam Jam are available, and include a hosted VIP lounge inside the Glam Lounge featuring cocktails, beverages and appetizers; no-host general admission for the outdoor concert and amenities is $20. Raquel Aurilia's striking debut album "Finding My Way," on Shea Records with national distribution through Aezra/EMI, was recorded in Los Angeles and Phoenix area studios. Raquel collaborated with a team of seasoned music world veterans including GRAMMY-winner Tony Papa (Survivor, Weird Al Yankovic, Sylvie Vartan, James Brown), who produced and mixed the disc. Stand-out tracks include the powerful lead single, "Where Was I," "Feels Like" - which won regional AC buzz last year during an advance release of the track - and "The Need," an uplifting ballad released as a limited-edition CD single to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims via an '06 fundraiser at the Great American Ballpark. Raquel also delivers fresh covers of two classic hits: Stephen Stills' Buffalo Springfield rock anthem "For What It's Worth" and Gary Wright's pop smash "Dream Weaver."
Raquel is currently writing and developing material for her second album. She will also appear live with her band on the main stage at the March 31 first Arizona Cesar Chavez Day Celebration at Phoenix's Steele Indian School Park.
