NEW YORK (Metallica Official Website) - Metallica has teamed up with the T.J. Martell Foundation to offer one deep-pocketed auction bidder a day in the studio with the band. According to the band's official Web site, the winning bidder on eBay will receive airfare and hotel accommodations for two in San Francisco for two nights, as well as a full day in the studio with the band and producer Bob Rock. The auction ends on July 19. The current bid at press time was a whopping $19,000, so it would seem the auction is not for the mere casual fan. The money raised in the auction will go to T.J. Martell, an organization that specializes in raising funds for leukemia, cancer, and AIDS research. Metallica has been working on the follow up to 1997's Re-Load, the band's last studio effort, and its first without longtime bassist Jason Newsted, who left in early 2001
