NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) - Atlantic recording group
Funeral For A Friend has confirmed its status as one of UK's most popular rock outfits, with their just-released new album, "TALES DON'T TELL THEMSELVES," debuting this week on the official British chart at a career-high No 3. Produced by the legendary Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters), the album is the critically acclaimed Welsh band's third, following 2003's "CASUALLY DRESSED AND DEEP IN CONVERSATION" and 2005's "HOURS." "TALES DON'T TELL THEMSELVES" was released in the U.S. last Tuesday, May 15th.
Next month, Funeral For A Friend will introduce North American fans to the new album with a much-anticipated series of headlining dates. The PureVolume Presents "All Hands On Deck" tour takes off on June 11th at the Knitting Factory in New York City, then travels westward, wrapping up on June 26th at the famed Troubadour in West Hollywood, California. Support on all dates comes from Alexisonfire, Emanuel, and Fightstar. FFAF will then remain on this side of the pond to join up with the Vans Warped Tour '07, running from June 29th through August 3rd. [Itinerary below]
"TALES DON'T TELL THEMSELVES" has been reaping critical praise. In its 5K (5-star) review, Kerrang! called the album "a triumph, a remarkably assured, wonderfully cohesive work, boldly conceived and superbly executed." "It took a record about drowning for Funeral For A Friend to find their lungs," enthused Alternative Press. "I would say 'Tales...' will be one of the biggest 'grower' albums of 2007," said absolutepunk.net, "and may turn out to be the pinnacle album in Funeral For A Friend's career."
With its grand sweeping choruses, epic widescreen ambition, and soaring guitars, "TALES DON'T TELL THEMSELVES" marks the boldest statement from Funeral For A Friend thus far. Fueled by tracks like the powerful first single, "Into Oblivion (Reunion)," the album stands as a culmination of everything the band has done to date as well as a breathtaking reinvention.
