NEW YORK (W. Panic Official Website) - Widespread Panic singer-guitarist Michael "Mikey" Hauser has terminal cancer, he confirmed Wednesday (July 17), following much speculation. Hauser wrote on the band's website, "I want to assure all of you that all that can be done has been done, and I want to thank all of you who have contributed information, medicine, and so on. I have hopes of playing again soon, although I can't say for sure when or where, and I hope to see you all there." Houser missed the band's summer tour, which kicked off June 21 in Tennessee. Rumors of his illness started circulating this spring. Widespread Panic's most recent album, Don't Tell The Band, has been nominated for a Jammy Award for studio album of the year. The Jammy ceremony takes place at New York City's Roseland Ballroom on October 2.
