New Brunswick, NJ. (Top40 Charts/ Apache Records) - Singer/songwriter Mike Montrey joins The Samples line-up as they take to stages across the country on this summer's Rehearsing For Life Tour. Montrey will be responsible for holding down lead and rhythm guitar parts as well as a share of the vocals.
Montrey, known locally as founding member of the popular jam-band ...Water... has been reviewed as one of New Jersey's most commanding frontmen and inventive guitarists. His solo debut, A Perfect Reality is scheduled to be recorded in late July with an anticipated early September release.
"I am extremely honored to be asked to join The Samples on guitar for their 2007 national summer tour, and ecstatic about the opportunity to make music with Sean Kelly and the rest of the band," reports Montrey as he plans to embark on the road.

The Samples started as a major label band, but felt compelled to return to their indie roots better suited to the college-alternative foundation that gained them popularity. They toured the world and elsewhere and found that their true calling was live performance and, although a force to be reckoned with in the studio (studio albums, compilation albums, and official live releases amount to 18 discs and rising, including their most recent release, 2005's Rehearsing For Life, on Apache Records) it's the reputation they've built for live performance which keeps a loyal and growing fan base coming back for more.
The Samples are Sean Kelly, guitarist, vocalist and founding member; Karl Dietel, keyboards, backing vocals; Jared Johnson, bass, backing vocals and Billy Muchtler, drums.
Mike Montrey is available for print and online interviews and radio phoners. Live cuts of Mike Montrey's new solo material is available for review on MySpace.
