LOS ANGELES (DreamWorks Records) - One year after its release, Jimmy Eat World's Bleed American has reached platinum status for sales of 1 million, according to its label, DreamWorks Records. The album's success is due in large part to the popularity of the multi-format hit single 'The Middle', and, to a lesser degree, the follow-up, 'Sweetness'. Credit touring nearly non-stop since the spring of 2001 as well. However, Jimmy frontman Jim Adkins says it's difficult to actually feel such triumphs when it comes to his career. "It is also a little bit hard to gauge because we're on tour so often," he says. "I mean, put the days end to end, we've probably been home maybe about six weeks since we left for tour last April. So, we're kind of in our own little bubble traveling around. It's hard to gauge the actual...for us to quantify, like, success, 'cause we don't know. We just play."
Jimmy Eat World's road life will continue at least through early September, with dates scheduled in North America and Europe until then. The group performs a sold-out show Thursday (July 25) at New York's Roseland Ballroom.
