Sydney, AU. (Top40 Charts/ EMI MUSIC Australia) - For Gold Coast band Operator Please, having such instant local success with their debut single Just A Song About Ping Pong has been a pleasant surprise. But when your single threatens to become a global phenomenon, that's when things start to get crazy. For Operator Please that time has come. In the space of twelve months the band has not only inked a deal with EMI Australia, but has signed on with UK label (and EMI affiliate) Brille Records for the world. Just A Song About Ping Pong was last week, one of the most added songs at Australian radio with the Hot 30 and Nova stations nationally leading the charge. The video is being played on all music programmes around the country, and was featured on the front page of MySpace and YouTube, where it received over 500 000 hits in its first week! Since the announcement that the quintet are to play Leeds and Reading UK Festivals in August, Operator Please continue to impress in the UK. The single Just A Song About Ping Pong, released in Australia on July 28, has been added to London radio stations, BBC Radio 1 and XFM, following an NME feature which named them one of this year's buzz bands. The hot new video, filmed in the UK during an April visit, is receiving airplay on MTV 2 across the UK and Europe. On the other side of the Atlantic, international interest continues with controversial celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton, recently naming them his 'favourite new band'. The band are currently in the studio recording their debut album, yet to be titled but planned for release later this year. Just A Song About Ping Pong Is available at retail and digitally on July 28
