NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Epic Records) - After ten years, over a million records sold, and an infinite string of acclaimed tours, Chicago's genre breaking
Alkaline Trio have joined the Epic Records family and plan to release an album of new material.
Alkaline Trio will launch a run of Warped Tour dates on July 28 starting in their hometown of Chicago, reconnecting with fans and reigniting the fires they started with Crimson, their last full-length album (released on Vagrant, May 2005).
One need look no further than today's current Chicago punk explosion to see Alkaline Trio's indelible mark on the modern rock landscape. Emerging from Chicago's working class suburbs in 1996, Alkaline Trio is Matt Skiba (guitar/vocals), Derek Grant (drums), and Dan Andriano (bass/vocals). First setting the punk scene on fire with their earliest EP Sundials in 1997, the band has since spawned a slew of punk rock gems that have influenced generations. Alkaline Trio have kept up with the ambitious pace they set years ago and continue to pen punk classics that inspire today's new breed of rockers.
Alkaline Trio look forward to a prolific and groundbreaking working relationship with Epic, a label whose longstanding track record for nurturing some of the country's greatest rock acts is an ideal fit for both the label and band.
Andy Gershon, Epic's Executive Vice President, shared his enthusiasm about the signing, saying, 'My personal and professional appreciation for Alkaline Trio is immense. They're the type of band any label would be lucky to partner with: They're passionate, important, fiercely conscious, and we look forward to expanding the band's boundaries.'
This signing marks the first major label for Alkaline Trio, something the band sees as a natural progression. So says lead singer and guitarist, Matt Skiba, 'We are thrilled to be a part of the Epic family and to join a great musical lineage that has hugely influenced our lives over the years. Andy Gershon is someone we've grown to trust and admire, and who is truly an Alkaline Trio fan. We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with Epic.'
