TORONTO, Canada (Top40 Charts/ Banbury Park Records) - In honour of the 30th anniversary of Elvis untimely demise, Canadian singer songwriter Reid Jamieson brings you The Presley Sessions.
Originally titled 'For the Colonel, with Love' this fifties era tribute album was never meant to be an actual release. Reid only recorded it as a birthday gift for his longtime sweetheart and manager CVM (affectionately nicknamed ?the Colonel? after Presley?s rambunctious and rather opportunistic manager). True to her namesake, she just couldn?t resist sending it out there to see if someone saluted, which they did, and friends at Banbury Park Records quickly scooped it up as it fit perfectly with their catalogue of retro inspired music.
Recorded at home with Reid playing all the instruments and standing in for the Jordanaires himself, this disc was truly a labour of love. A long time fan of the King, especially early and lesser known recordings such as ?Is It So Strange?, Reid also enjoyed performing the hits like ?One Night? and ?Any Way You Want Me? when ever the spirit called.
Not to be confused with an impersonator, Reid lends his own voice to this tender tribute, singing songs originally recorded in the late 1950s, with vocals that soar sweetly higher, yet are reminiscent of a younger, more hopeful Presley. One-take tracks coupled with Reid?s first attempts at upright bass and his own stellar guitar playing make this is an unpolished gem that will light up the hearts of Presley (and Jamieson) fans everywhere.
You know your mom wants a copy. Maybe take her to a show?
