LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Color Code Purple Productions) - The soul soothing sounds of vibraphonist Lionel Jones are in full effect on his debut CD Papa Jones. The spiritual healing and invigorating energy of this 11 song disc will refresh the mind as well as the body. Whether you are tired, troubled, sick or well, Lionel Jones' velvet vibraphone will make you feel better. In fact, the new CD, Papa Jones, has already received a Stellar Award nomination in the category of Instrumental Gospel CD of the Year. Papa Jones will be in stores Tuesday, October 9, 2007.

This project was born of love and an acute appreciation for fatherhood, hence the title: Papa Jones. Lionel explains: "The songs on this CD were all written right before, during and immediately after my son's birth. I thought there could be no better way to honor my father and the birth of my son than to create a multi-generational musical tribute to fatherhood," Lionel said.

There have been many stops along the way for Lionel, the son of an Army Sergeant Major (ret). Lionel was born in Verdun, France and has lived across the United States from Honolulu to Baltimore. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Lionel has a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from New Mexico State University. He has also studied at the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston. Lionel has shared the stage with the best and the brightest in the Gospel music industry including: Donnie McClurkin, V. Michael McKay, Marvin Sapp, Fred Hammond, Byron Cage, Andre Crouch, and Tonex. Lionel has opened in concert for Gospel greats like Dottie Peoples and Helen Baylor. Lionel is proud to have Canton Jones and Debra Killings appear as guest artists on Papa Jones.

"My musical career really began in the church, back in Oxford, Alabama whether it was in Bible study or hearing the preacher teach the Word, I was always inspired by the teaching. I eventually became the choir director. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at the age of ten. I believe that the songs on Papa Jones are inspired by both the written and preached, true Word of God. The seeds that have been sown in my heart, my soul and my spirit have shown me that this is what God has ordained for me to do, with me as his vehicle and the vibraphone as mine," Lionel said.
