DALLAS, TX. (Top40 Charts/ YMC Records) - To commemorate
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and raise money for breast cancer education, prevention and treatment, 7-Eleven, Inc. is partnering with YMC Records to offer an exclusive CD compilation featuring nationally known recording artists, many of whom have faced cancer personally or within their families.
'Songs of Hope' features cuts by breast cancer survivors Olivia Newton-John, Carly Simon and Amy Holland along with nine other recording artists. Suggested retail price is $8.99. The 12-song CD is just one of the items the convenience retailer is carrying to raise funds and increase awareness of the disease that will strike one in eight American women. Of every CD sold, $1 will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The CD is only available at participating 7-Elevenstores. Others, exclusive to 7-Eleven, are:
* Pink Soft Touch 16-ounce Refillable Coffee Mug A portion of the sales proceeds from each mug will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The mug retails for $6.99 and is available at participating 7-Eleven stores while supplies last.
* Hand-decorated Pink Ribbon Cookies Also available during October, the giant sugar cookies retail for $1.99, of which 50 cents will also be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
7-Eleven also is carrying popular pink products from manufacturers that have made a commitment to make a donation to breast cancer charities for every item sold. Special edition TicTac mints, M&M candies and Frito-Lay Sun Chips all have special product and/or packaging that commemorates Breast Cancer Awareness month.
'Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month is especially important and meaningful to 7-Eleven because it impacts so many individuals and families, including many of our own employees and franchisees,' said Nancy Lear, 7-Eleven community relations manager. 'With one in eight women at risk of being diagnosed in their lifetime, the U.S. has the highest incidence of breast cancer in the world. By raising awareness and funds for this cause, we can do our part to support early detection, treatment programs and research for a cure.'
Newton-John, Simon and Holland have come forward to tell their own personal stories of survival and hope since their breast cancer diagnoses and successful treatment. Many of the other 'Songs of Hope' artists have generously leant their time and talents to raise funds for cancer causes and include: Kenny Loggins, Earth Wind & Fire, Lindsay Lohan, the Beach Boys, Marilyn McCoo, All 4 One, David Pack, Courtney Now, and Birtles Shorrock Goble, original members of the Little River Band.
'Thanks to medical advances, early detection and treatment, there is hope for women who receive a breast cancer diagnosis,' said Anne Low, 7-Eleven category manager for media. 'Organizations like Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation are helping doctors make strides toward controlling and ultimately eradicating this disease.'
This is the second time 7-Eleven has partnered with YMC Records, a division of Dallas-based World Digital Media Group L.L.C. (WDMG), to raise funds. During Military Appreciation Month last May, the companies partnered on 'Support Our Troops: Support Their Sacrifice,' sales of which benefited the USO.
