The 'Be a Kidz Bop Star' National Talent Search, which generated over 1100 contest entries submitted by kids from around the country, announced 15 semi-finalists on September 17th. Their videos were posted on KIDZBOP.com where kids voted for their favorites. The contest quadrupled traffic on KIDZ BOP's family-friendly website (www.kidzbop.com), generating over 8 million streams of videos on the site since its relaunch in July.
Vice President, Marketing for Kidz Bop LLC Sandi Hemmerlein commented, 'When running a contest that seeks user-generated content particularly kid-generated content you never know what you are going to get. We were pleasantly surprised at not only the quantity of entries we received, but also the quality. Kids put a lot of effort into entering this talent search and the level of talent was particularly impressive.'
A phenomenon among kids 4-11 and a favorite among parents, KIDZ BOP is crossing over from CDs (10 million sold) to the concert stage with KIDZ BOP WORLD TOUR, which launches at the end of October. The tour, featuring six kids, two young adults and a rock band, will run through May '08. With the most talented kids, a live rock band, lights, dancing and more, it's the ultimate kid-friendly music event and the only rock concert where kids are the stars.
KIDZ BOP has been named the No 1 children's music series from 2002 through 2006 by Billboard. The series has sold over 10 million CDs since launching six years ago, with nine Gold-certified releases. The CD series features today's most popular songs, sung by kids for kids which lets parents enjoy the most current songs in a kid-friendly atmosphere.
