LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ IFPI) - Singer-songwriter James Blunt's second album All The Lost Souls collected an IFPI Platinum Europe Award less than two weeks after its release. The award is granted to albums that have sold more than one million copies across Europe.

The album contains the hit song 1973 which was a number one single in seven countries and is a follow-up to his hugely successful debut album Back to Bedlam (2004).

Rockers Bon Jovi collected an impressive eighth IFPI Platinum Europe Award for their 1994 greatest hits album Cross Road, which contained the best of their catalogue to date plus two additional hit singles Always and Someday I'll be Saturday Night. The album has now sold more than eight million copies across Europe in the 13 years since its release.

The only albums to surpass Cross Road since the awards began in 1996 are Celine Dion's Falling Into You (1996) and Let's Talk About Love (1997), which have both collected nine IFPI Platinum Europe Awards. Only three other albums have achieved same eight awards status; Celine Dion's D'eux (1995), The Beatles' 1 (2000) and The Spice Girls' Spice (1996).

Other vintage albums racking up new awards in the last quarter include Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP (2000), which collects a sixth award and Keane's Hopes and Fears (2004) which receives its fourth IFPI Platinum Europe Award.

More recent albums to be honoured include Amy Winehouse's Back to Black (2006) and Mika's Life in Cartoon Motion (2007) which pick up their second awards this quarter and The Fratellis' Costello Music (2006) and Tokio Hotel's Schrei (2006) which both gain their first IFPI Platinum Europe Award.
