MYRTLE BEACH, SC. (Top40 Charts/ Hard Rock Park) - The world's first rock 'n' roll theme park announced another unprecedented rock music partnership with an internationally renowned band - The Moody Blues. The ride, to be named "Nights in White Satin - The Trip," will be a mind-bending journey choreographed to a special version of the quintessential symphonic rock masterpiece "Nights in White Satin." The multi-million selling top 10 hit will be masterfully re-orchestrated specifically for Hard Rock Park by Justin Hayward, who originally wrote and composed the song more than 40 years ago.
The Moody Blues, Justin Hayward, John Lodge and Graeme Edge, made a special appearance in Myrtle Beach today to personally unveil "Nights in White Satin - The Trip" and sign autographs for a crowd of eager fans. Adding to the Park's repertoire of genuine rock memorabilia, band members also presented Hard Rock Park with their last Mellotron, a precursor to the modern synthesizer, which came to define the "Moody Blues sound."
"The original recording was a two track master. This new version will give us ultimate flexibility to place sounds in different places around the ride" said Justin Hayward, lead singer and composer for The Moody Blues. "I was talking with a contact at the Moscow Symphony about another project when this opportunity came up. So we decided to record all the orchestra parts, matching the originals, in Moscow later this month. It's going to be very exciting revisiting this beautiful orchestration again."
An anchor attraction in Hard Rock Park's British Invasion area, "Nights in White Satin - The Trip" will incorporate sights, sounds, smells and tactile techniques to immerse riders of all ages in one of rock's most imaginative and emotional classics. The Moody Blues are enthusiastic about offering guests an unrivaled multi-sensory experience.
"This unique attraction will evoke fantastic memories for countless Moody Blues fans and at the same time introduce new audiences to an incredible style of music," said Steven Goodwin, Hard Rock Park CEO. "Nights in White Satin" was the signature song of the concept album 'Days of Future Passed' which was a groundbreaking album. This attraction will, again, break new ground in providing a fully immersive experience. This continues to demonstrate how Hard Rock Park is working closely with artists to push the boundaries of rock 'n' roll based entertainment."
The four and half minute experience, which weaves between reality and illusion, begins by passing through a dream-like entranceway, complete with interactive displays, audio enhancements and memorabilia from the band, leading to a swirling walk-through vortex that leads them to awaiting cars (each of which is equipped with its own high-fidelity, on-board sound system) and whisked along a track from one disorienting room to another, where laser- lights, projected swirls of liquid color and special effects dazzle the senses and create the trip of a lifetime.
