VH1's You Oughta Know franchise, launched originally on VH1.com in late 2004 introduces artists on the rise to the channel's adult music lover base via VH1, VH1.com and off-air marketing campaigns. This highly acclaimed franchise has helped break many artists such as James Blunt, Amy Winehouse, The Fray, KT Tunstall and Corinne Bailey Rae and has proven to have an impact on their record sales. Current YOK artists include Sara Bareilles, Colbie Caillat, Feist, Chrisette Michele and Ingrid Michaelson.
Grammy nominated British singer/songwriter James Blunt recently released his much anticipated second album, ALL THE LOST SOULS, the follow-up to his 11 million selling debut BACK TO BEDLAM. The new collection, once again produced by Tom Rothrock features several songs that became road-tested favorites in the course of Blunt's marathon touring during 2006 - including the new single "Same Mistake." The UK release of James Blunt's debut album, BACK TO BEDLAM, in October of 2004 marked the beginning of a remarkable musical story. With his compelling songs, captivating voice, and charismatic presence, Blunt gradually built a passionate following through constant gigging and contagious word-of-mouth. In the U.S., "BACK TO BEDLAM" earned RIAA double platinum certification, while Blunt gathered a remarkable five Grammy nominations and two MTV VMA Awards. When "You're Beautiful" hit No 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, James became the first British artist to top the U.S. singles charts since Elton John with "Candle In The Wind 1997."
Sara Bareilles, a 27-year-old singer songwriter from Eureka, CA released her debut album, Little Voice back in July. It immediately became the No 1 best selling album at iTunes. The infectious hit single "Love Song" is currently climbing the radio charts and has already been featured in such hit TV shows as MTV's The Hills and ABC's Men In Trees. Sara has over 500 shows under her belt including tours with Maroon 5, Aqualung and Mika. She has performed on NBC's Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and been featured in both Rolling Stone and the Los Angeles Times. VH1 recently handpicked Sara for their powerful "You Oughta Know" campaign.
