Sydney, AU. (Top40 Charts/ EMI MUSIC Australia) - Joe Cocker's first Sydney show sold out within an hour this morning. A 2nd show has been announced for Thursday February 7. Tickets are on sale now!

One of the very best soul and R&B singers of the last 40 years, Joe Cocker returns to Australia in January 2008.

Joe Cocker is a once-in-a-lifetime artist - one who has an unerring ear for songs that fit him best and the transcendent power to transport us to a place in our collective imagination where familiar sounds glow with a new light.

Instantly recognizable for his unique & oh so sensational guttural growl of a voice, Cocker has the uncanny gift of taking well-known songs and recrafting them to instantly make them his own.

It's that voice that powered his show-stopping performances at the Woodstock Festivals of 1969 and 1994, the same voice that took Lennon & McCartney's A Little Help From My Friends and turned it into a Cocker classic and which, cracked and broken, made You Are So Beautiful such a raw and soulful performance.

Whether its his funk, soul, guts & grit rendition of Bob Marley's Could You Be Loved, the ever so soulful Have A Little Faith or his raunchy reading of Randy Newman's You Can Leave Your Hat On, one of Cocker's greatest strengths is his ability to interpret other people's songs, usually transcending the original.

Cocker's latest album, Hymn For My Soul, is no exception. Covering the likes Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, and George Harrison, and produced by Ethan Jones, Cocker's latest album release has received critical acclaim. Reaching the top ten in several European countries including the UK, EMI Australia will release Hymn For My Soul in late January 2008.

As the new album Hymn For My Soul hits the shops in January, Cocker fans can also look forward to the release of an updated Greatest Hits package drawing on his vast repertoire. Once again drawing from the catalogue of The Beatles and stamping it with his own inimitable style, Joe Cocker has also reworked Come Together for the critically acclaimed film Across The Universe, a musical in which he has a cameo role.

Joe Cocker will be returning to Australia after a hugely successful sold-out European arena tour, which is taking him across the continent from Zurich in September to London in December.

Since the apprentice gas fitter first sang professionally in Sheffield more than 30 years ago his voice and interpretative powers have given the world some of rock's finest musical moments. In recognition of his incredible 'services to Music', earlier this year Joe was awarded an OBE. He'll receive the award at Buckingham Palace on December 15, prior to wrapping up 2007 with shows in Sheffield and London.
Don't miss the unmistakable voice of Joe Cocker - live in concert this summer.
SPECIAL GUEST on all shows (other than Barossa Valley) MIA DYSON
