San Francisco, CA. (Top 40 Charts/ IRIS) - Txttunes, a mobile music community (www.txttunes.com) and IRIS Distribution, a leading distributor of independent music (www.irisdistribution.com) have partnered to provide a range of wireless solutions to the IRIS stable of artists and independent recording labels. Txttunes recently launched a new payment system where fans can download a full track MP3 to their PC/Mac and charge it to their cell phone account rather than using a credit card. Statistics show that 90% of teenagers don't own a credit card, and the connection between the cell phone and the Internet is where generation Y is focused. In addition, Txttunes artists and labels can create their own wireless communities and fan clubs. Bands are also offered the opportunity to personally select their 30-second previews, which automatically offers a fan a ringtone option. Also available is the Txttunes widget, where bands can upload tracks to a social networking site, customize the artwork, and with ease a fan then enters their cell number into the widget clicks "purchase" and the track is downloaded to their PC/Mac immediately. IRIS co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer Bryn Boughton stated, "Exploring innovative ways to expose our labels and artists to new listeners is important to us, and Txttunes now provides us with several options to do that. We're excited to further our market reach within the mobile community." Matt Coleman, CEO of Txttunes, stated, "We are an avid supporter of the independent music community and both our companies are paving a new business model for the music industry. The wireless platform connects 200 million cell phones and is an industry first. The reaction from the labels has been fantastic, having signed over 15,000 already to the service."
