New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) - Atlantic recording artist Shadows Fall has received a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance for the song " Redemption" off their critically acclaimed label debut, THREADS OF LIFE. Clearly a leader in their genre, this marks the band's second Grammy nomination in the category, following their nod at the 2006 awards for "What Drives The Weak" off of their Century Media release, THE WAR WITHIN. Shadows Fall frontman Brian Fair said the following: "We walked off stage in Milan Italy last night after a killer set on the Black Crusade tour and my phone started buzzing. After cracking a beer I checked my message and was absolutely shocked and amazed to find out that we had been nominated for our second Grammy!!! Redemption has been nominated in the best metal performance category for this year and I could not be more proud. The song is a celebration of the power of music and the human voice as an agent of change and to have it recognized in such a way is incredible. We were able to celebrate last night with our brothers in Machinehead who were also nominated. This years nominees show that real metal has demanded the attention and respect of the industry; and to be acknowledge alongside such influential and innovative bands like Slayer, King Diamond, Machinehead and As I Lay Dying is a true honor. We learned the hard way last year that the booze gets cut off way too early so we will be partying early and hard!!" As stated, Shadows Fall is presently on the road in Europe with Trivium, Dragon Force, Arch Enemy, and fellow nominees Machinehead, as part of the Black Crusade Tour. The companion music video for their current single, "Another Hero Lost," recently made its television premiere on MTV2's Headbanger's Ball, while the song remains entrenched at rock radio nationwide. The poignant track was inspired by the death of Fair's cousin, a soldier killed in Iraq, but honors all loved ones who have, in Brian's own words, " left this world before their time."
