LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Lionsgate) - Lionsgate, the leading independent filmed entertainment studio, announced today its release of the soundtrack to the critical and box office hit 3:10 TO YUMA, starring Russell Crowe, Christian Bale and Ben Foster and directed by James Mangold.
The original score, written by acclaimed composer Marco Beltrami, brilliantly echoes Mangold's modern spin on the western genre, blending traditional elements with vibrant, contemporary sounds to create an innovative, emotionally satisfying soundtrack. 3:10 TO YUMA - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be in stores nationwide on December 18, 2007, just in time for the holiday season and in anticipation of year-end accolades and awards consideration. The announcement was made by Jay Faires, Lionsgate, President of Music & Publishing. Beltrami received a nomination for the Critics' ChoiceAwards from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for Best Original Score for "3:10 TO YUMA."

A stark parable of good and evil, 3:10 TO YUMA offers a gritty depiction of life in the mythic Old West, combining intense physical action with sharply honed character drama to deliver supremely satisfying, thoroughly modern entertainment. Director James Mangold, whose knowledge of music greatly informed his direction of the Academy Award(R) - winning film WALK THE LINE, credits Beltrami's soundtrack for 3:10 TO YUMA with "being dazzling in its technique, but even more accomplished for the emotional power it brings to the picture." For the film, Beltrami created confident and lyrical melodies and themes, featuring everything from wheezing organ pedal to high speed guitar picking to bugle to full orchestra to fuzz guitar to mouth harp. The result is one of the year's most innovative scores.

Composer Marco Beltrami first caught Hollywood's attention in 1996 with Wes Craven's smash hit horror flick SCREAM. Since that time, the composer has been building an impressive filmography including Guillermo del Toro's HELLBOY; box office hits TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES from James Cameron, I, ROBOT starring Will Smith, and RED EYE starring Rachel McAdams; and the critically-acclaimed western THE THREE BURIALS OF MELQUIADES ESTRADA directed by and starring Tommy Lee Jones. In addition to multiple ASCAP honors, Beltrami received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 1998 for his work on the television movie DAVID AND LISA, produced by Oprah Winfrey. Next, Beltrami reunites with Tommy Lee Jones for IN THE ELECTRIC MIST directed by BAFTA winner Bertrand Tavernier. Beltrami is also scoring the music for Lionsgate's upcoming thriller THE EYE starring Jessica Alba.

3:10 TO YUMA opened nationwide at No 1 at the box office this fall, and continues to generate 'buzz' as the awards season evolves. The film received great critical acclaim, frequently applauded for reviving interest in the western genre for modern audiences. Of the film's music, Michael Rechtshaffen of The Hollywood Reporter wrote: "The impressive work extends behind the scenes to... Marco Beltrami's percolating score, which subtly yet effectively signals YUMA's status as a thinking-person's Western."
